He is also an alumnus of  Purdue University Graduate School of Education, holding an M.S.Ed in  Curriculum and Instructional Design with a focus on  Learning and Design Technology.  Amongst the course load, he completed courses in Foundation of Learning Design & Technology, Learning Theories and Instructional Design, Project Management in LDT, Introduction to E-Learning, Learning Sytems Design, Demonstration of Competency in LDT, and Demonstration of Professional Competence. Mr. Zapata also holds a B.S. degree in Sociology from Lincoln University, Pa.

Mr. Zapata has over 15 years of teaching experience serving various communities in New York City. He has served as a consultant / instructional designer for the Crown Heights Career Center, a program of the Jewish Community Council (JCC) of Greater Coney Island (JCCGI).  Mr. Zapata also served as a Work Readiness and Credentials Coordinator for the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center in the Bronx, NYC. In 2021, at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, while in his current role, Mr. Zapata was instrumental in ensuring a successful transition to remote learning by training fellow instructors on how to use the LMS in addition to sharing educational technology tools with them along with providing necessary preparation.
